Thoughts

Gerry - As my father-in-law I will greatly miss having you as 'my wing-man' regarding being able to 'have a good old moan' about current and past government cabinet members and their inabilities to 'run the country' and also being able to reminisce about our mutual love of British steam railways. I was always in awe of your intellect and academic achievements; in your chosen scientific field you were clearly and justifiably 'right up there at the top' in the international standings - a sentiment that your academic colleagues will wholeheartedly endorse. Your groundbreaking scientific research has had an enormous and lasting benefit to people all over the world and is, even today, enabling current breakthrough drug therapies in the field of medicine - so your life and commitment are continuing to benefit the world and will do so for decades to come - because of this you will be loved and rembered for a long long time. This is the measure of the man and a 'life well lived'.

A man of wit and intelligence, with stories galore and a damn good chess player. Gonna miss me Old Mucker. Your stories will be missed but carried in our hearts, a life well lived :)

Dad, you leave a great personal and professional legacy and made a difference in this crazy world. I will especially miss your humour, your wisdom, and the stories of the travels you had across the continents. We will never forget you, rest in peace. Lots of love, your daughter Nicky xx
